Essky Yik
Sound Operator
Essky Yik graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) degree, majoring in Sound Design. He has a passion for the stage, and for sound and music production. Over the years, he has actively collaborated with various local and overseas organisations, participating in sound and music production. He currently works as a freelance sound engineer and designer, and serves as a director for Diva Music Limited. He has been involved in several production projects, including the sound design for the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre's "All Good Things", the Chung Ying Theatre Company's "In Between The Sky and Earth", and the Reframe Theatre's "Post-human Condition." His contributions also include recording and mixing for VIU TV's "Japan Bike Tour Let’s Go Cycling" TV show, and the sound design for the The Only Stage's "We, Shumshuiporian" musical theatre project and the Hong Kong Children's Musical Theatre x Metropolitan Youth Orchestra's “Träumerei". He was an assistant sound designer for the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre's "A Bowlful of Kindness" and did recording and mixing for the National Basketball Association's "NBA on FIRE" TV show. He also did live mixing for the Hong Kong Arts Festival's "We Are Gay", among others. Mr. Yik also actively engages in sound education work. He has served as a tutor for sound workshops and classes organized by numerous primary and secondary schools and theatre companies across the city. Moreover, he has been invited back to his alma mater, the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, multiple times to serve as a sound designer and sound faculty advisor for the academy's school productions. He guides undergraduate students in participating in school productions and shares his working experiences in live sound.
